HÀ NỘI — The People’s Committee of Hà Nội has allowed an additional 12 local hotels to be utilised as quarantined facilities for people who have had direct contact with COVID-19 patients.

The people, who voluntarily chose to be quarantined at the hotels instead of normal quarantined areas, must cover the expense themselves.

The hotels are Hoà Bình Hotel, Mường Thanh Hà Nội Grand Centre, Sofitel Legend Metropole Hà Nội, Silk Path Hà Nội, Hilton Garden Inn Hà Nội, Hilton Hà Nội Opera, Bình An 1 Hotel, Bình An 2 Hotel, Bình An 3 Hotel, Grand Vista Hà Nội, Lake Side Hotel and Mường Thanh Grand Xa La Hotel.

The municipal People's Committee has assigned the People’s Committees of Hoàn Kiếm District, Hà Đông District, Ba Đình District and Sóc Sơn District to coordinate with the city's departments of health and culture to manage the people who have chosen to be quarantined at the hotels.

The additional hotels were put forward in a proposal on Monday. The People's Committee previously assigned 23 local hotels, with a total of 2,640 rooms and 4,253 beds, as quarantine facilities for people who have been in contact with COVID-19 patients in the city.

The 23 hotels have so far hosted about 106,237 people since June 1, 2020.

Self-monitoring at home

In another development, Hải Dương Province has begun piloting a model of self-monitoring at home for people who have been in contact with COVID-19 patients. The pilot began last Sunday.

Under the pilot, people are allowed to self-monitor at home if their house has at least two rooms, providing one room is separated from the family's common living area.

Those quarantined and their families must strictly follow the regulations on COVID-19 prevention and control given by the Ministry of Health and their locality.

Violators of these regulations can be prosecuted according to the provisions of law if they fail to strictly follow the regulations and spread COVID-19 to the community.

Those who do not strictly comply will be immediately moved to quarantined areas.

Local medical staff, community-based COVID-19 prevention teams and the Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control at commune and district levels have been tasked with managing those that are self-monitoring at home.

Last Saturday, the People's Committee of Hậu Giang Province ordered the relevant agencies to allow COVID-19 asymptomatic patients and people who have had contact with COVID-19 patients to self-monitor at home, under the supervision of local medical staff and the community-based COVID-19 prevention teams.

Tiền Giang Province also recently allowed asymptomatic COVID-19 patients and people who have been in contact with COVID-19 patients to self-monitor at home, under the supervision of medical staff and the community-based COVID-19 prevention teams. — VNS
