Another 4,899 new COVID-19 cases recorded on Friday

HÀ NỘI — The Ministry of Health announced 4,899 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the country's tally to 910,376. 

A further 56 deaths were also announced. The national death count is now 21,966, about 2.4 per cent of the total confirmed cases.

HCM City recorded the highest daily cases of the day with 977, followed by Bình Dương and Đồng Nai at 697 each.

The capital city Hà Nội reported 37 new cases. 

The other cases were detected in Bạc Liêu (398), An Giang (320), Kiên Giang (249), Tây Ninh (180), Sóc Trăng (151), Cần Thơ (101), Long An (91), Đắk Lắk (90), Tiền Giang (75), Bình Thuận (68), Cà Mau (65), Gia Lai (61), Đồng Tháp (60), Hà Giang (60), Trà Vinh (59), Phú Thọ (46), Hậu Giang (42), Quảng Nam (38), Vĩnh Long (37), Bến Tre (34), Quảng Bình (32), Khánh Hòa (30), Nghệ An (25), Bình Phước (20), Bình Định (17), Thừa Thiên Huế (17), Thanh Hóa (16), Nam Định (14), Hà Nam (13), Bắc Giang (12), Kon Tum (12), Bắc Ninh (7), Quảng Ngãi (7), Quảng Ninh (6), Đắk Nông (6), Thái Bình (4), Phú Yên (3), Ninh Bình (3), Đà Nẵng (2), Hải Phòng (2), Hải Dương (2), Lâm Đồng (2), Hưng Yên (1), Hà Tĩnh (1), Vĩnh Phúc (1), and Sơn La (1).

Among the new infections, 2,305 cases were detected in the community.

The 56 COVID-related deaths were in HCM City (32), Bình Dương (6), Bạc Liêu (5), Đồng Nai (4), Tiền Giang (2), Sóc Trăng (2), Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu (1), Khánh Hòa (1), Quảng Ngãi (1), Kiên Giang (1), and Lâm Đồng (1).

Việt Nam's seven-day average of daily new cases stands at 4,110.

The Health Ministry also announced the recovery of 2,169 patients on Friday, bringing the total to 816,132.

Of the current patients hospitalised, 2,990 are in a serious condition, 312 require invasive ventilation and 19 are on life support (ECMO).

A total of 78,940,403 doses of vaccine have been administered, with 23,361,620 people now fully vaccinated. — VNS
