THÁI NGUYÊN — Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân has praised the patriotism emulation movement in the northern province of Thái Nguyên, saying it has contributed significantly to local socio-economic development over the past five years.
Attending the province’s fifth patriotism emulation congress on Tuesday, the top legislator said the province should continue holding movements in line with political missions as well as Politburo Directive No 05-CT/TW on promoting the study and following the thoughts, morality and lifestyle of President Hồ Chí Minh.
Ngân asked provincial leaders to pay due regard to improving the efficiency of the emulation and rewards council, adding that council staff should have a thorough understanding of Party policies and State regulations and a high sense of responsibility.
According to Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Vũ Hồng Bắc, the patriotism emulation movement has been promoted at the grassroots level locally, with programmes such as 'Thái Nguyên joins hands to build new-style rural areas' and 'Good teaching – Good learning'.
Over the past five years, Thái Nguyên’s gross regional domestic product has remained robust, he said, averaging 11.1 per cent. The province has also posted outstanding results in the building of new-style rural areas, with 72 per cent of communes attaining the title, 21,500 jobs generated and poverty cut by 2.06 per cent each year.
On the occasion, she presented the President’s first-class Labour Order and second-class Labour Orders to local organisations and individuals for their contributions to national construction and protection.
