HÀ NỘI — Thirty-two members in the first group of Việt Nam’s level-2 field hospital have arrived in South Sudan to carry out peacekeeping in the country.

The Defence Ministry held a ceremony on Monday at Tân Sơn Nhất International airport to see off the first group. The remaining 31 members will leave two weeks later.

On November 25, 2014, the Ministry of Defence issued a decision to establish the level-2 field hospital with a 70-strong staff, a step to realise the Party and State’s policy on joining the UN’s peacekeeping activities in humanitarian activities. Since then, the hospital’s workers have engaged in training in accordance with the UN’s standards.
