Choreographer speaks about success on the stage

The German opera Der Freischütz was reinterpreted in Vietnamese as Nhà Thiện Xạ, and staged in July this year. The performance proved popular with audiences, especially young theatre-goers. The choreographer behind the opera, Nguyễn Phúc Hùng, who is also Chief Choreographer of the Hồ Chí Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO), and his colleagues at the HBSO completed the work in co-operation with the Goethe Institute. Thành Vinh spoke to Hùng about the project and his career as a choreographer.

Classic chèo play to be staged in Hà Nội

Renowned chèo (popular opera) artists like Thanh Ngoan, Đoàn Vinh and Tuấn Tài will perform together in the classic chèo play entitled Quan Âm Thị Kính (Goddess of Mercy) which will be staged at the Việt Nam Chèo Theatre on August 25.

Hand foot mouth disease in children

Hand Foot Mouth Disease (HFMD) is a highly contagious infectious disease caused by Coxsackie virus (A16) and Enterovirus 71 (EV71). In Việt Nam, HFMD occurs throughout the year, but the peak season is from March until May and September to December. Children can get HFMD at all ages but children below 3 years are more susceptible, as they have not developed immunity against the virus.
