HÀ NỘI — To open the “Southeast Asian Movie Month”, the Centre for Assistance and Development of Movie Talents (TPD) will present a screening of the Singaporean movie Ilo Ilo on  November 16.

A debut feature of director Anthony Chen, the drama is about family matters. Pregnant Hwee Leng Lim and her husband Teck hire a Filipino live-in maid for household chores and to help with their son Jiale, whose behaviour has deteriorated since the recent death of his grandfather.

The film features an international cast, including Singaporean actor Chen Tianwen, Malaysian actress Yeo Yann Yann, Filipino actress Angeli Bayani, and debut child actor Koh Jia Ler.

Ilo Ilo was premiered at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, where it awarded the Caméra d’Or Award, becoming the first Singaporean feature film to win at this prestigious film festival.

The screening will start at 7.30pm. The film will be presented in original languages (Hokkien/English/Tagalog/Mandarin) with Vietnamese and English subtitles.

Donation (at the door): VNĐ20,000/person. TPD is at 51 Trần Hưng Đạo Street (4th floor). — VNS
