WeChoice Awards 2020 highlights contribution of doctors on the frontline against COVID-19

Stories about Vietnamese doctors on the frontlines of the fight against COVID-19 were honoured during an evening gala held by WeChoice Awards 2020.

HCM CITY - Stories about Vietnamese doctors on the frontlines of the fight against COVID-19 were honoured during an evening gala held by WeChoice Awards 2020.

The inspiring journey of WeChoice Awards 2020 ended with the gala on January 23 at the SECC Centre in HCM City’s District 7.

This year’s event, with the theme of "Việt Nam Miracle", was attended by the chairman of the board of directors of VCCorp, Vương Vũ Thắng, along with multiple celebrities and influencers.

The health sector and local doctors' efforts to keep Việt Nam safe were the highlights of the gala night when four nominations made it to the list of Top 10 Inspiring People and Top 5 Inspiring Ambassadors of the WeChoice Awards 2020.

They included a group of doctors on the frontlines in Đà Nẵng, a group in charge of Song Nhi’s separation surgery, a group saving the life of a British pilot, and Dr Lê Thị Quỳnh Mai, deputy director of the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, who successfully isolated the new virus strain for quicker testing of the disease. 

In the entertainment category, singer Thủy Tiên won a prize for Artists with Standout Activities and Top 5 Inspiring Ambassadors, while Jack was the Singer with Breakthrough Activities in 2020.

VitaDiary, Unilever and Vingroup were honoured in the category of Corporate Pioneers with meaningful social responsibility campaigns.

The celebration of a new category, The Artist in People’s Heart, was also announced and it went to late artist Chí Tài.

WeChoice Awards is an annual event organised by VCCorp JSC. The latest event marked the seventh WeChoice Awards ceremony. - VNS
