HÀ NỘI — The fourth theatrical festival, taking place in July and featuring plays inspired by Vietnamese police, is calling for entries.

Jointly organised by the Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam Stage Artists’ Association, the festival aims to celebrate the 75th traditional day of the Vietnam People's Police Force (August 19).

According to the organisation board, 20 to 25 art troupes will participate in the event. The evaluation council will judge the content and quality of the entries 15 days before the opening ceremony.

The plays performed at the festival must reflect the contribution of the Vietnam People's Police Force in the cause of national liberation in various periods – the resistance wars against the French, American invaders; national construction and defence and during the national renewal period.

The works should also demonstrate the concern of the State, Party and President Hồ Chí Minh towards the Vietnam People's Police Force; the examples in the sector following Uncle Hồ’s teachings and the devotion of the force’s members in the fight against crime and protecting national security, social order and safety.

The eligible plays can also have content about fighting against the degradation of political ideology, moral qualities, lifestyle or corruption.

The art troupes can develop new works or restage old plays, except for those that were performed at previous festivals. — VNS
