HÀ NỘI — Sài Gòn Heat have been ousted from the ongoing ASEAN Basketball League.
The team lost to CLS Knights Indonesia 56-68 in their third play-off match held at the GOR Kertajaya in Surabaya, Indonesia.
Earlier, the two teams tied 1-1 in their two previous matches. The Knights drew first blood with a lopsided 84-69 victory. However, the Heat responded by getting their first franchise victory in game 2, 86-81.
Despite playing away, the Heat were confident to take the lead at 7-2 in the first quarter thanks to Trevon Hughes. However, the hosts fought back strongly to win 21-16.
The Knights continued to dominate on their home turf to open the gap to 27-18 in the second quarter. The score was 29-32 in favour of the Knights.
The visiting side changed their tactics and co-ordinated well in the remaining time but they couldn’t beat the hosts.
This victory means the Knights will head to the semi-finals and take on the Mono Vampire Basketball Club. — VNS
