HCM CITY — Pop star Noo Phước Thịnh will be the Vietnamese representative at this year’s Hong Kong Asian – Pop Music Festival to be held on March 23.

The event has been organised by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry since 2011.

This year it will feature stars such as Supper Moment from Hong Kong, Mika Nakashima from Japan, BTOB from Korea, Kewei Tay from Singapore, and Jannine Weigel from Thailand.

Thịnh, 30, said: “I’m proud to represent Việt Nam at the Hong Kong Asian – Pop Music Festival and have a chance to introduce Vietnamese music to Asia and the world.

“My staff and I are working hard to prepare for the event. I promise it will be unique.”

The festival will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Noo Phước Thịnh, real name Nguyễn Phước Thịnh, began his music career in 2009.

His debut album, 3 Chấm (Ellipsis), consisting of eight pop and R&B songs, was an instant hit.

His Mất Em (Losing You), a song featuring pop and dance, became a recording phenomenon.

He has so far released 25 singles, many of them hits, and has appeared in dozens of TV series and reality shows.

He received three nominations for Việt Nam’s Devotion Awards, and won the Singer of the Year award in 2016.

He was one of four coaches for the reality music shows The Voice Kid Vietnam in 2016 and the Voice Vietnam in 2017.

Thịnh held his biggest ever live show at HCM City’s Military Zone 7 Stadium in November 2016 attended by 35,000 fans. — VNS
