HCM CITY —  Miss Universe Thailand 2007, Farung Yuthithum, will take part in a fashion show at Riverside Palace in HCM City tonight.

She will perform on the catwalk at the show Little Black Dress by designer Đỗ Mạnh Cường, one of the country’s favourite fashion designers.

Farung will appear with more than 30 top models, such as Lê Thúy and Lê Xuân Tiền.

Farung, who studied at the Thanyaburi Technical College, placed in the Top 15 at Miss Universe 2007. She is a fashion model, actress and pianist.

Little Black Dress will feature more than 100 clothes from the designer’s latest collection which aims to celebrate his nine year-career.

A graduate of the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, Cường loves creating elegant and eye-catching articles for his collections. His designs dazzle customers’ eyes at first glance.

His designs are often made with lace or metal, similar to clothing shown on the catwalks in Paris, where he has lived for seven years. But their shapes are distinctly Vietnamese.

His shops in Hà Nội and HCM City have became popular among celebrities and fashion icons.

His ready-to-wear collections for both men and women, range from VNĐ1 million (US$50) to VNĐ20 million (more than $900) per item. They sold out within a few days after release.

"My way is to adopt global styles, but in an individual manner," said the 35-year-old.

His show, Little Black Dress, will begin at 8pm on December 9 at 360D Bến Vân Đồn Street in District 4.— VNS
