BÌNH THUẬN — Photographs of Việt Nam’s heritage and natural beauty are on display at an exhibition that opened on Sunday in Phan Thiết City in the southern province of Bình Thuận.
The 2016 Vietnam Heritage photo exhibition aims to bring the country’s different heritages closer to each citizen, enhance Việt Nam’s image to the world and raise awareness on the importance of preserving and promoting one’s culture and heritage.
The photos, chosen from entries for the Vietnamese Heritage Photo Awards 2016, organised by Vietnam Heritage Magazine, depict rivers, landscapes, underwater scenes, tangible and intangible heritages and life in the country.
The entries, which include works of professional and non-professional photographers, are classified into single photo and photo collections and through their diverse themes and unique perspective have captured the beauty of the country and its people.
The 2016 Vietnam Heritage photo contest received around 5,400 entries from 507 photographers, including 14 foreigners. Of these, 100 outstanding photos were selected for the exhibition, the organising board said. Hoàng Trung Thủy, head of the jury, said the submissions are of great artistic value and reflect the broader views of the contestants.
The names of the prize winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in HCM City on November 23.
The exhibition will run in Phan Thiết City until October 28, after which it will move on to six other provinces and cities until early 2017. — VNS
