ĐỒNG NAI — The Đồng Nai City People’s Committee has issued a plan to implement the municipal Party Committee's Standing Board’s Plan No. 125-KH/TU and Politburo Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW on the development of Vietnamese culture in the city.

The city sets a common goal of building an advanced culture with a distinctive identity and integration, which becomes a solid spiritual foundation, a vital endogenous resource, and a driving force for rapid and sustainable development. 

The plan focuses on fostering comprehensive human development, improving the city’s happiness index and listing Đồng Nai among the top five cities in Việt Nam with the highest Human Development Index (HDI) by 2030.

By 2030, Đồng Nai strives to complete the system of cultural and sports institutions at the grassroots level, and the digitisation of national cultural heritage and national special cultural heritage.

The city will boost investment in the city’s major cultural and sports facilities, such as museums, libraries, art theatres, sports complexes, squares, and international convention and exhibition centres.

The city also concentrates on preserving and promoting cultural heritage, and developing cultural industries associated with digital transformation, innovation and international integration.

Đồng Nai aims to develop cultural industries and the creative economy into the pillar of its sustainable growth by 2045, with revenue from cultural and tourism services contributing to three per cent of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP).

The city will seek five to ten distinctive cultural tourism products and services for its tourism branding.

In addition, the plan figures out key tasks on cultural development in the city, including renewing communication and outreach activities, fostering state management in the cultural sector, building a healthy cultural environment, preserving and promoting heritage, strengthening the application of science and technology and digital transformation, developing key cultural industries associated with tourism, calling on investment and proactively deepening international integration.

Đồng Nai sets to allocate at least 2 per cent of the total annual budget to the cultural sector and gradually increase the proportion based on practical needs.

The city’s People's Committee has assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate with relevant departments, agencies, and localities in implementing the plan, as well as to periodically supervise, inspect, review and summarise the results. — VNS
