HUẾ — A candidate from the southern province of Phú Yên, Hà Trúc Linh, has triumphed over 24 other contestants to win the crown of Miss Việt Nam 2024.

The final night of the beauty pageant took place on a floating stage on the Hương (Perfume) River in Huế City. In this round, the finalists showcased their beauty and talent in traditional áo dài (Vietnamese long dress), swimsuits, and evening gowns.

With her outstanding performance throughout the competition, contestant Hà Trúc Linh, 21, from Phú Yên Province, won the highest title of the Miss Vietnam 2024 pageant.

Linh has a radiant face, stands 1.72 metres tall, and has body measurements of 80-59-95 cm. In the reality show segment of the programme, she excelled in various challenges.

Linh previously won the title of Miss Finance Marketing University. Since childhood, she has actively participated in school activities and has won numerous awards in mathematics and English.

The 21-year-old was recognised as one of the standout contestants from the beginning of the competition, possessing an attractive figure and a bright smile.

In addition to her beauty and outstanding achievements, Linh made a strong impression with her communication skills and confident manner.

The first and second runner-up titles were awarded to Trần Ngọc Châu Anh from Hà Nội and Nguyễn Thị Vân Nhi from Hải Phòng City, respectively.

Linh said that she still feels overwhelmed and had not anticipated winning the crown.

"Miss Việt Nam is my dream, and I see it as a motivation to develop and improve myself. I am happy to participate in the competition and receive attention and love from everyone. I was surprised that the other contestants recognised my efforts throughout the journey. When everyone rushed to hug and congratulate me on winning the title, I couldn't help but cry," she told Tiền Phong (Vanguard) newspaper after the event.

Miss Việt Nam is a prestigious beauty pageant organised by Tiền Phong newspaper. It was first held in 1988 and aims to celebrate beauty, talent, and intelligence among Vietnamese women. Held every two years, the competition has garnered significant attention and is considered one of the most respected beauty contests in Việt Nam.

Miss Việt Nam 2024 kicked off at the end of last year, attracting thousands of applicants. The organisers selected a top 60, then narrowed it down to 45, and finally announced a list of 25 finalists. The pageant does not accept contestants who have undergone cosmetic surgery, aiming to find natural and authentic beauty.

Journalist Phùng Công Sưởng, the head of the organising committee, noted that selecting this year's new queen was challenging due to the consistent quality of the contestants. The participants have prepared thoroughly in terms of appearance, knowledge, and communication skills.

Poet Trần Hữu Việt, the head of the judging panel, said the evaluation criteria include four factors - beauty, intelligence, cultural knowledge, and contributions to society. He noted that this year's contestants were not only beautiful but also talented, well-educated, and proficient in foreign languages.

Miss Việt Nam 2024 introduced a new format by incorporating reality television for the first time, featuring 10 episodes on digital platforms. This change allows the audience to follow the contestants' training processes and observe their styles and soft skills.

A highlight of the event was the floating stage set on the Hương River, combining modern lighting technology and music. Many renowned artists such as Hồ Ngọc Hà, Giang Hồng Ngọc, Nguyễn Trần Trung Quân, and Shin Hồng Vịnh performed on the final night. VNS
