HCM City launches special tours to celebrate Reunification Day

HCM CITY — On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Việt Nam’s reunification (1975-2025), HCM City has introduced a series of cultural and historical tours designed to offer visitors deeper insights into the city's past and vibrant present.

As part of the annual HCM City Tourism Festival, taking place from April 3 to 6 at 23/9 Park in District 1, these tours cater to both domestic and international visitors, providing unique experiences that highlight the historical significance and cultural richness of the southern metropolis.

1. ‘Memories of Saigon – Chợ Lớn’ Tour

This half-day tour, priced at VNĐ690,000 (US$26.8) per person, takes visitors through key sites linked to the Saigon Commandos, including hidden bunkers and mailboxes. The itinerary also features the Đỗ Phủ Café, the Đại Hàn broken rice restaurant in District 1, and the house at 1-2-3 Quai Testard (now Châu Văn Liêm Street, District 5), where President Hồ Chí Minh resided before embarking on his journey for national salvation. Visitors will also explore the Tuệ Thành Assembly Hall, enjoy lion dance performances, and sample renowned Chinese dim sum.

2. ‘District 1 – Colours of the Night’ Tour

For VNĐ1.65 million per person, this half-day tour offers an enchanting evening journey through District 1. Highlights include the HCM City Museum, the historic People's Committee Building, and a double-decker bus tour passing major landmarks such as the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica, the Central Post Office, Independence Palace, Bitexco Tower, and Hotel Majestic.

3. ‘Legends of the Rừng Sác Commandos’ Tour

A visit to the historical Rừng Sác site in Cần Giờ is the focus of this VNĐ1 million half-day tour. Participants will learn about the valiant 10th Regiment commandos and their wartime operations, visit Monkey Island, and take a high-speed canoe ride through lush mangrove forests.

4. ‘Impressions of Saigon – Gia Định – HCM City’ Tour

For a more relaxed experience, this VNĐ299,000 per person half-day tour allows visitors to stroll through Nguyễn Văn Bình Book Street, admire the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica and the Central Post Office, and take a Water Bus ride along the Saigon River from Bạch Đằng Wharf.

5. ‘Củ Chi – Land of Steel’ Tour

Priced at VNĐ850,000 per person, this tour takes visitors to the famed Củ Chi Tunnels at Bến Dược. The itinerary includes exploring the extensive underground network used during wartime and visiting the Bến Dược Temple, a memorial to over 45,600 martyrs.

6. ‘Saigon Commandos’ Tour

This tour revisits the covert operations of the Saigon Commandos. It features stops at Nhan Hương Café, which once served as a communication hub for the commandos, and the Saigon – Gia Định Commandos Intelligence Museum. Other key locations include a hidden weapons cache on Nguyễn Đình Chiểu Street and the Independence Palace.
