HCM CITY — Women artists of the HCM City Photography Association (HOPA) are holding a photo exhibition highlighting the beauty of Việt Nam to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8.
The exhibition titled Quê Hương Qua Ống Kính Nhiếp Ảnh Nữ (Country through the Lens of Female Artists) showcases 135 black-and-white and colour photos taken by 45 veteran and young photographers.
The photos feature the country’s landscapes, culture, daily life and craft villages.
The exhibition’s highlighted work is Váy Hoa (Floral Dress) by Phan Thị Khánh, which won the Grand Prize at the SkyPixel eighth Annual Photo & Video Contest, which features amazing aerial photos and drone videos from around the world.
The photo features women harvesting water lilies and forming a floral dress on the water.
The images of ethnic minority women and children in traditional costumes playing and working are also featured in the photos such as Niềm Vui Của Mẹ (Mother’s Joy) by Hoàng Bích Nhung and Dệt Vải (Weaving) by Nguyễn Thị Vân Tùng.
Ngô Thị Thu Ba, head of the HOPA’s women photographers’ club, said: “These photos were selected among thousands of works which were taken by professional artists through field trips across the country in last two years as a way to express their love to the country.”
The club now has 56 members from different backgrounds who have have organised many solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad and released many photo books to introduce Việt Nam and its culture and lifestyle to people around the world.
The exhibition is at HOPA at 122 Sương Nguyệt Ánh Street in District 1 and will run until March 10.
