HCM CITY — Paintings featuring landscapes, villages, flowers and rivers by a group of artists are on display at the HCM City Fine Arts Association.
The event, Xuân Trong Tôi (My Spring), celebrates the Lunar New Year holiday, which falls on January 22 this year.
It displays 160 colour paintings in different materials highlighting the themes of Spring, love and youth created by 23 artists from HCM City and southern provinces.
The artists’ works tell the stories of people and life.

Female artist Nguyễn Thị Tâm’s oil paintings highlight the natural world, with ideas hidden under vivid colours and shades that are new.
Her work called Hừng Đông Sau Rừng (Dawn in the Jungle) completed last year sends messages about life and revival.
“My works are music and songs about life and love,” said veteran painter Tâm, who has 30 years in the art.

Nguyễn Như Khôi uses green and yellow to highlight his art. His paintings capture flowers blooming on hillsides, which signals the coming of Spring.
Hồng Phượng captures the smiles of girls living in remote villages of the northern province of Hà Giang in her works.
“I gained new experiences and passion after visiting the exhibition Xuân Trong Tôi. All paintings at the event are very lively and realistic,” said Trần Thái Tú, a student at the HCM City University of Culture, who visited the event’s opening ceremony last weekend.
Xuân Trong Tôi runs at the city’s Fine Arts Association, 218A Pasteur Street in District 3. — VNS
