Local authorities are trying to bury the body of a 150kg dolphin that drifted to the coast of Phú Quốc, confirmed Kiên Giang southern province’s Phú Quốc District authorities.

KIÊN GIANG — Local authorities are trying to bury the body of a 150kg dolphin that drifted to the coast of Phú Quốc, confirmed Kiên Giang southern province’s Phú Quốc District authorities.

As reported by Thanh Niên (Young People) newspaper, the dead dolphin, measuring 1.5m in length, was discovered on June 9 at residential quarter No. 9 on the coast of Dương Đông Town in Phú Quốc District.

Many people posted the footage of the dolphin on Facebook.

On June 10, Lê Văn Riệm, head of the residential quarter, said after receiving the news, local authorities sent staff to the site to bury the mammal.

Nguyễn Linh Ngọc, an expert of the Management Board of Phú Quốc Marine Protected Area, said it was a Tursiops truncatus dolphin.— VNS
