HÀ NỘI – The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE) has decided to inspect a local company in Hà Nam Province to check if they were following the environmental protection laws.

The inspection is conducted by the MoNRE’s General Department of Environment, following public complaints of pollution against Hà Nam Province’s Duy Tiên District and Hà Nội’s Phú Xuyên District. Garbage was being dumped by a company in Duy Tiên District, according to the Dân Trí news website.

The Tâm Sinh Nghĩa Investment and Development Joint Stock Company is responsible for treating the waste by burning, recycling and manufacturing fertilsers, but instead, it was found dumping the garbage in a landfill recently.

The companys action has affected the surrounding environment, especially the residential areas, the newspaper reported.

Some companies in the industrial zones nearby also reported to a competent agency about the environment pollution being caused by Tâm Sinh Nghĩa.

The companys waste treatment factory was made operational in 2012, with a capacity of 20 tonnes of garbage a day.

By June 2016, the company had to deal with some 180 tonnes to 200 tonnes of garbage per day. – VNS
