HÀ NỘI — As Việt Nam faced an eventful 2025 marked by volatile weather and economic challenges affecting tens of thousands of households, VPBank continued to implement a wide range of corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities.

Its efforts focused on livelihoods, education, healthcare and environmental protection, aiming to deliver sustainable value and practical support to communities across the country.

At the end of October, Storm No.13 swept through Gia Lai Province, causing severe damage across many districts. In Đề Gi Commune, one of the hardest-hit areas, 10 houses collapsed completely, 200 lost more than 70 per cent of their roofs, and hundreds of others were partially damaged. Fishing boats, aquaculture cages and essential infrastructure also suffered extensive losses.

In response, VPBank donated VNĐ15 billion (US$569,000) to rebuild and repair houses for affected households in Đề Gi. The new houses were designed with raised foundations and reinforced roofs to withstand floods and strong winds, helping families quickly stabilise their lives and restore production.

Earlier this year, VPBank also provided VNĐ30 billion to support flood-affected communities in Nghệ An and VNĐ10 billion to assist residents in northern and central provinces. The funds were used to supply essential goods, building materials and livelihood support, ensuring timely and practical assistance for recovery efforts.

Continuing environmental protection efforts

Alongside emergency relief, VPBank maintained its long-term environmental projects. Notably, the Treebank initiative in Thanh Hóa and Tây Ninh saw thousands of trees planted to improve soil conditions, prevent erosion and enhance climate resilience.

Meanwhile, proceeds from the VPBank International Marathon (VPIM) 2025 – a non-profit running event – contributed VNĐ162 million to new tree-planting programmes. These efforts not only enrich local ecosystems but also raise community awareness of sustainable living and environmental stewardship.

In total, VPBank, together with its employees and partners, contributed more than VNĐ63 billion to social initiatives in 2025. The bank continued to expand programmes supporting disadvantaged children, building schools in remote areas and protecting the environment.

At the National Children’s Hospital, hundreds of young patients celebrated an early Tết under the 'Loving Tết' programme, receiving gifts and encouragement to lift their spirits during long-term treatment. In provinces such as Long An, Thanh Hóa and Tây Ninh, VPBank staff joined local communities to plant thousands of trees, providing shade, reducing emissions and preventing soil erosion.

The long-running 'Cặp lá yêu thương' (Paired Leaves of Love) initiative continued to expand, with VPBank contributing VNĐ2.3 billion and mobilising an additional VNĐ5 billion from partners and donors. The programme helped build or repair nearly 15 schools in mountainous areas, giving children in provinces such as Quảng Trị, Sơn La, Điện Biên, Tuyên Quang and Lào Cai safe classrooms and a stable learning environment.

Other social welfare activities were also rolled out flexibly across the country. VPBank donated VNĐ188 million to Anh Quất Hospital for medical equipment, VNĐ800 million to Tân Phước Tây Commune (Long An) and VNĐ100 million to Quảng Lâm Commune (Cao Bằng) to support disadvantaged households.

Education support programmes continued, with VNĐ50 million granted to Đông Hà High School, VNĐ30 million to Triệu Phong High School and VNĐ50 million to Thượng Hóa Secondary School in Quảng Trị Province to assist underprivileged students in maintaining their studies.

VPBank’s CSR approach reflects its sensitivity to the urgent needs of local communities and its commitment to addressing them with practical, timely and human-centred solutions. From emergency relief and healthcare to environmental restoration and education, each initiative ensures that resources reach those most in need, creating long-term impact and trust within communities.

These continuous efforts not only help stabilise livelihoods and strengthen resilience but also contribute to building a more prosperous and compassionate society – a reflection of VPBank’s enduring mission to spread sustainable prosperity across Việt Nam. — VNS
