The organiser of the 31st World Travel Awards for the Asia and Oceania region has opened voting at www.worldtravelawards.com.

This year, Hà Nam has been nominated in two prestigious categories, Asia's Leading Emerging Tourism Destination and Asia's Leading Regional Cultural Destination.

The WTA, established in 1993 and often dubbed the "Oscars of the travel industry," honours outstanding figures across all sectors of the global tourism industry.

In 2023, Hà Nam surpassed many strong competitors to be honoured as the “World's Leading Regional Cultural Destination” at the World Travel Awards.

Located about 65 kilometres from Hà Nội, Hà Nam is rich in potential for developing spiritual, cultural, ecological and culinary tourism. It boasts diverse and unique historical sites, scenic spots and traditional craft villages.

With the distinctive cultural and spiritual destinations, including the Tam Chuc Spiritual Tourism Complex, Địa Tạng Phi Lai Pagoda, Bà Đanh Pagoda, Long Đọi Sơn Pagoda and Sở Kiện Basilica, Hà Nam has attracted significant attention from tourists recently.

Hà Nam is also home to numerous other attractions, including the Bá Kiến Mansion - the prototype for Vũ Đại village, Kẽm Trống Tourist Area, Trần Thương Temple, Vũ Đại fish braising village, Đọi Tam drum making village, Nha Xá silk cloth weaving village and Trúc Temple - Ngũ Động Sơn Tourist Area.

Beyond being a prominent cultural and spiritual destination, Hà Nam is set to elevate its tourism with numerous large-scale projects in collaboration with the Sun Group.

According to the plan, Hà Nam will be the next stop in Sun Group's journey of "beautifying the lands" with the “Era City" - Sun Urban City Hà Nam. It promises to become a focal point connecting Hà Nam with other provinces in the Red River Delta region.

This project will boast a 200-hectare landscape of amenities, including a 19.37-hectare Sun World Park, a 36.7-hectare cultural park, a 13-hectare ecological park, a 22-hectare sports park and an 8.9-hectare festival park. With many first-time amenities, the project will create a vibrant living and leisure space for residents. It promises to breathe new life into Hà Nam, enhance its appeal as a destination, and gradually drive Hà Nam's breakthrough on the domestic and regional tourism map. — VNS
