Đà Nẵng International Fireworks Festival (DIFF 2024) was held for over a month, featuring world-class events and shows. It reinforced Đà Nẵng's brand as “Asia’s Leading Festival and Event Destination” and established it as one of the most attractive destinations in Việt Nam during this period.

From the magnetism of DIFF 2024

DIFF 2024 took place from June 8 to July 13, 2024, featuring teams from France, Germany, Italy, the US, Poland, China, Finland, and Đà Nẵng - Việt Nam. The Finnish team, a former champion from DIFF 2019, won the grand finale, marking a highly successful event.

Over 2,000 individuals from Đà Nẵng and Sun Group collaborated for a year in preparation, with total investment costs in the hundreds of billions of VNĐ funded by Sun Group. This made DIFF 2024 one of the largest fireworks celebrations ever.

With the collaboration of businesses and vigorous participation from local authorities, DIFF 2024 became a significant attraction for visitors to Đà Nẵng. According to Đà Nẵng's Department of Tourism, during the five days of DIFF 2024, tourist accommodations served 360,662 visitors, a 12% increase from DIFF 2023, including 138,037 international visitors (up 33%) and 222,625 domestic visitors (up 2%).

Throughout the event, over 1.5 million visitors were accommodated, a 60% increase from DIFF 2023. Approximately 11,442 visitors viewed the fireworks from 23 boats with 2,439 seats in Đà Nẵng, an 11.8% increase from the previous year.

With a large influx of visitors during DIFF 2024, Đà Nẵng's tourism revenue saw a significant increase. Accommodation, dining, and travel services revenue in June 2024 was estimated at VNĐ16,344 billion, up 28.2% from the same period in 2023, showcasing desirable growth figures for many destinations.

DIFF 2024 is seen as a strong catalyst for local tourism, positively impacting Đà Nẵng’s socio-economic landscape. According to Lê Trung Chinh, Chairman of Đà Nẵng People's Committee, the festival significantly contributed to the city's socio-economic development, particularly in tourism and services.

"In the future, we will build upon these achievements and continue to innovate, especially with DIFF," he added.

A city worth visiting and experiencing

Đà Nẵng had a successful summer with DIFF 2024, marked by numerous positive signs, including increased airline flights and nearly 100 per cent hotel occupancy rates. However, the city by the Hàn River has more to offer than only DIFF.

The "Fairy Blossom" show at Bà Nà Hills

Throughout the summer months, a series of prominent shows at Bà Nà Hills featuring top international circus and magic stars have transformed Đà Nẵng into an art capital. The "Fairy Blossom" show alone features over 200 international and Vietnamese artists, including the world's top male pole circus artist, the famous twin stars who wowed The Ellen Show and a leading Russian duo who are regulars at royal events.

In the city centre, Da Nang Downtown is developed to emulate world-famous "entertainment districts," offering numerous exciting and high-class experiences and shows from day to night.

The "Awaken River - Dòng sông thức giấc'' show awakens the west bank of the Hàn River with Hollywood blockbuster-like Jetski and Flyboard performances. "Symphony of River'' is also an impressive mix of Jetski & Flyboard performances, light shows, circus and dance performances, involving nearly 100 international actors and artists.

The highlight of this show was the nightly fireworks display, further cementing Đà Nẵng's brand as the "fireworks capital" and one of the most worth-visiting “light cities" in Việt Nam.

Alongside the unique shows at famous tourist spots, Đà Nẵng has continuously organised international-scale events and festivals throughout the summer. These include the 2nd Đà Nẵng Asian Film Festival, the Southeast Asian Sports Festival, the Asian Golf Championship and the "Enjoy Đà Nẵng" Festival.

The "Enjoy Đà Nẵng" Festival held from July 17 to 21, featuring a series of artistic, culinary, sports activities and unique performances, including boat shows and drone technology displays debuting in Đà Nẵng.

With a series of large-scale festivals, Đà Nẵng's tourist accommodations are increasingly invested to meet the growing number of visitors.

As of July 2024, the city had approximately 1,297 tourist accommodations with 46,035 rooms (an increase of 117 establishments with 4,035 rooms compared to the same period in 2023). This includes 104 establishments with 20,358 rooms of four or five-star standards and 1,193 establishments with 25,677 rooms of three-star standards or lower.

Comprehensive investment in tourism, particularly in international-standard festivals and tourism products, affirms Đà Nẵng's remarkable socioeconomic growth.

According to the Đà Nẵng Department of Tourism, in the first six months of the year, the total number of visitors staying in the city reached 5.1 million, including two million international visitors, which marks over a 40% increase from 2023.

Consequently, revenue from dining and accommodation services reached nearly VNĐ13,000 billion, up 22.2% from 2023. The city's economy grew by 8.35% in the second quarter of 2024 and maintained a five percent growth rate in the first six months.

Da Nang Downtown attracts a large number of visitors to high-class shows

The goal for 2024 is for Đà Nẵng to welcome over eight million visitors served by accommodation establishments, a six per cent increase from last year, fully recovering to the peak year of 2019.

With the cooperation of the government, businesses and residents, this goal is entirely achievable and even be surpassed, aiming to make Đà Nẵng one of the major socio-economic centres of Việt Nam and Southeast Asia by 2030.

In the future, as Đà Nẵng implements special policies and successfully establishes Việt Nam's first free trade zone, the city will undoubtedly accelerate development toward the goals set out in Politburo's Resolution 43. With a vision for 2045, Đà Nẵng aims to become a large eco-smart urban area, a hub for start-ups and innovation, and a liveable coastal city meeting Asian standards.
