Many investors come to Bình Phước to join the forum

Jointly held by the provincial People's Committee, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, EuroCham, and the Vietnam Digital Agriculture Association (VIDA), the forum is coordinated by Hùng Nhơn Group, De Heus Group (Netherlands) and the Vietnam High-tech Agriculture Club (DAA).

Hundreds of experts and business executives affiliated to the European Business Association in Việt Nam (EuroCham) and other organisations at the "EuroCham High Technology Agriculture, Industrial & Commercial Enterprises Connection Forum – Bình Phước Province 2024" in the southern province of Bình Phước.

Among the attendees are Nguyễn Mạnh Cường, member of the Party Central Committee and secretary of the Bình Phước Party Committee; Huỳnh Thị Hằng, permanent deputy secretary of the provincial Party Committee and chairwoman of the Bình Phước People's Council; Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phùng Đức Tiến; Trần Tuệ Hiền, chairwoman of the provincial People's Committee; officials from the Government Office; Gabor Fluit, chairman of EuroCham and general director of De Heus Group in Asia; Vũ Mạnh Hùng, deputy chairman of VIDA and chairman and general director of Hùng Nhơn Group, executives from major companies, and investors.

At the forum, the province showcases its potential and preferential policies as well as key projects to domestic and foreign investors, focusing especially on projects to come up in industrial parks and clusters and economic zones and agricultural projects utilising high technology.

Provincial authorities emphasised that over 80 per cent of administrative procedures are handled online through the National Public Service Portal. This streamlined process reduces the time needed for investment-related administrative procedures.

When carrying out the procedures, investors only need to contact online or directly with a contact point, the Provincial Public Administrative Service Center, to receive instructions on procedures, documents and results.

The time needed for administrative procedures at all stages has been shortened, Chairwoman Hiền said.

In addition, the province is actively involved in digital transformation with the goal of enabling people and businesses to apply on digital platforms to enhance business efficiency and management. 

Bình Phước aims to improve its service quality to satisfy investors, including EuroCham businesses, by focusing on the "4 good foundations" criteria consisting of good infrastructure, good human resources, good policies, and good public services, she said.

Addressing the forum, Fluit said: “I can really feel the energy and enthusiasm radiating from everyone. EuroCham is honoured to be here with all of you, as innovators and change-makers to together shape the future of Bình Phước's economy.”

Bình Phước has a strategic location in the Southern Key Economic Region, serving as an important gateway connecting Việt Nam, Cambodia and the region, he said. 

With its abundant lands, the province offers attractive investment opportunities in agriculture including high-value crops, aquaculture, food processing, and large-scale production, he said.

The favourable climate further confirms that Bình Phước is an ideal candidate for large-scale renewable energy projects in accordance with Power Plan VIII and the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP).

In future, the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement promises to be a catalyst for Bình Phước's development.

With a nearly 99 per cent reduction in tariffs mooted over the next decade, it is well positioned to benefit from expanded access to the EU's 500 million consumers.

VIDA Deputy Chairman Hùng said while Bình Phước has seen increasing investment, it still has untapped potential compared to other provinces and cities in the Southern Key Economic Region such as HCM City, Bình Dương, Đồng Nai, and Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu.

“During our meeting with leaders of Bình Phước Province, we realised that the desire to awaken the local potential advantages is very great. However, to turn the potential advantages into specific numbers, it is certainly necessary to meet, discuss and promote investment activities to have a common voice and look in the same direction.”

Deputy Minister Tiến praised the forum’s meaningful purpose and highlighted the positive impacts EuroCham businesses have on developing Việt Nam's agricultural sector and their contributions to the economy and society.

There were many presentations on issues related to FDI, green development, digital agriculture, and others by experts from the EU, Bình Phước Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, EuroCham, AusCham, De Heus Vietnam, Hùng Nhơn, and Big Dutchman Vietnam.

The forum has received enthusiastic support and sponsorship from domestic and international businesses.
