HCM CITY — TTi Group has proposed developing a solar battery manufacturing plant, expected to cost US$150 million, at Sài Gòn Hi-tech Park (SHTP) in HCM City.
Beside the plant, the American group also plans to build a battery research centre at the park and it would need 10ha of land for these establishments, baodautu.vn reports.
According to Lê Bích Loan, deputy head of the park’s management board, 16ha of land in the park was now available for the investor.
As of October 2018, the SHTP has granted investment licences to 148 projects, including 93 domestically-invested projects worth more than VNĐ38 trillion ($1.6 billion) and 55 foreign-invested ones valued at $5.4 billion.
Major investors include Intel, Sanofi, Samsung, Schneider, Datalogic and Jabil, vietnamplus.vn cited the board’s statistic as showing.
The park aims to keep up with the Fourth Industrial Revolution by capitalising on digital technology and integrating smart technologies to optimise production, head of the park’s management board Lê Hoài Quốc said.
The park has so far raked in nearly $45 billion in total high technology production value. This figure is expected to exceed $20 billion by 2020. — VNS
