HÀ NỘI — VPBank has awarded scholarships totalling VNĐ1 billion (US$43,000) to 39 students under its ‘VPBank Talent’ programme and more than 100 as part of ‘Home of Talent’.
The scholarships, awarded to outstanding students nationwide, offer the opportunity for students to work for VPBank and receive professional training after graduation.
After a month, more than 500 students registered for the programme. The funds subsidised 9 golden scholarships worth VNĐ15 million each and 30 silver scholarships worth VNĐ10 million for the top third and fourth year university students studying banking, finance, business administration, accounting and auditing courses nationwide. These students come from the Foreign Trade University, the National Economics University, RMIT University and Banking Academy.
Đặng Thành Trung, a student from the Banking Academy who received a golden scholarship said: “I feel very proud to receive the highest scholarship of the programme. The scholarship is not only meaningful to help me cover my studies but also is a precious spiritual gift, a motivation and a responsibility for me to strive more.”
The bank also awarded its ‘Home of Talent’ scholarships to more than 100 students with outstanding results under an agreement signed with universities. Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyễn Đức Vinh, VPBank’s general director said education was one of the priorities as part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities.
“In recent years, VPBank has gradually become a training centre for students, especially in computer science, finance and data management in the banking industry. VPBank Talent Scholarships not only provide financial support, but also open the door for young people to approach new careers,” he added.
The programme not only provides financial support for students, but also provides the opportunity to work at the bank. With a well-trained and developed roadmap, students participating in the programme would be able to develop their own capabilities and gain practical knowledge from leading experts in the field of banking and finance to join the labour market.
