HÀ NỘI — The Civil Aviation Authority of Việt Nam (CAAV) announced on Tuesday that it has presented an Aircraft Operator Certificate (AOC) to Bamboo Airways, allowing the airline to begin commercial flights.

Accordingly, Bamboo Airways has passed all important tests during the AOC approval process. It has also undergone basic preparations regarding personnel and infrastructure for flight operations.

As planned, the carrier will operate 37 routes connecting major cities and tourist destinations at home and abroad in 2019.

The first domestic routes will be Hà Nội-Quy Nhơn, Hà Nội-Đồng Hới, HCM City-Quy Nhơn, Hà Nội- HCM City, and HCM City-Vân Đồn. Up to 60 domestic flights per day are planned.

Flights to destinations in Asia and Europe, including Japan, South Korea, and Singapore will use wide-body aircraft.

Đặng Tất Thắng, Bamboo Airways’ general director said the AOC certificate had been the result of its efforts over the past four years.

“The only opportunity in the market for an airline is an excellent service culture. This is the commitment that all Bamboo Airways employees are striving for to become a place of understanding and respect to customers,” Thắng added.

Bamboo Airways general director said: "Love and sincerity for passengers are the most sustainable values of an airline. Therefore, we always aim to serve the best quality of service and this must come from our heart.”

Bamboo Airways of Việt Bamboo Airlines Co., is owned by property developer FLC Group. The Việt Bamboo Airlines Co, was established in 2017 with charter capital of VNĐ700 billion (US$31.4 million).

FLC has geared Bamboo Airways as a ‘hybrid’ airline, blending low-cost traits with those of traditional or full-service carriers. The group has also invested in infrastructure for aviation operations, such as upgrading Phù Cát Airport in Quy Nhơn city and key roads connecting the airport to the Nhơn Hội Economic Zone. — VNS
