HÀ NỘI – Emirates is celebrating its second year of operations and the first anniversary of its non-stop daily flights to Hà Nội, the capital city of Việt Nam.

“Việt Nam is an important market for Emirates and we have enjoyed resounding success in the country since 2012,” said Haitham Al Battawy, Country Manager Emirates Vietnam.

“Since we started operations to Việt Nam in 2012, Emirates has enjoyed considerable growth and is progressing as the preferred choice among Vietnamese travellers. We are committed to providing travellers with more choices, flexibility, convenience and greater connectivity to the world via our global hub, Dubai,” added Al Battawy.

To date, Emirates has carried around 1.7 million passengers on routes to and from Hà Nội and HCM City. Since its first flight to Hà Nội from Dubai in 2016, Emirates has carried more than 400,000 passengers on the route. In addition, more than 1.25 million passengers have flown Emirates to and from HCM City since its launch in 2012.

Emirates’ growth in revenue for the Việt Nam market has outpaced the growth in passenger numbers by 24 per cent, supporting the fact that levels of engagement with its customer base have improved over the last year.

In addition to Emirates’ passenger services, Emirates SkyCargo has also played a crucial role in connecting Việt Nam with the rest of the world, transporting about 65,000 tonnes of exports from Hà Nội, including electronic goods such as mobile phones and other devices, in the last five years, while 47,000 tonnes of exports from HCM City were transported including fruits and vegetables, garments, sporting apparel and fresh fish, over the same period.

Emirates set a goal to continue to focus on creating fresh opportunities in the Vietnamese market and help achieve its target of 20 million international arrivals annually by 2020.– VNS
