HCM CITY – Back Jong Kook, CEO of Korea-owned Hanwha Life Insurance Company Limited Vietnam, has been awarded the HCM City Badge for his contributions to developing the city.
The city People’s Committee also awarded a Certificate of Merit to Hanwha for its contributions to the social welfare activities organised by the HCM City Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients in recent years.
According to the association, Hanwha Life has, in the period 2014-18, collaborated with it to donate health insurance cards to 45,677 poor patients in 28 provinces and cities.
It also donated houses and scholarships to 30 disadvantaged families and students each totally worth over $475,000. In 2018 alone the company has provided nearly 8,150 health insurance cards to people in the four provinces of Cà Mau, Kon Tum, Nghệ An, and Lâm Đồng.
During its nine years in Viet Nam, Hanwha Life Vietnam has spent more than VNĐ22 billion on community projects.
It has donated three preventive medical centres to Hòa Bình and Bắc Cạn provinces, helped build two primary schools in Hòa Bình, given scholarships and donated bicycles, organised activities such as blood donation, and celebrated the Full Moon Festival with underprivileged children.
It has also donated more than 160 charitable houses.
Established in 1946, Hanwha Life is the oldest life insurer in Korea with total assets of $84 billion. Hanwha Life Vietnam was licensed in 2008 and has a charter capital of $233 million, one of the highest capital in the industry. Currently, it has nearly 250 employees and 40,000 financial consultants operating at over 120 customer service centers. VNS
