VN and Russia plan to share the skies

Vietnam Airlines Corporation and Russian national flag carrier Aeroflot will share the same flights between the two countries next year.

HÀ NỘI — Vietnam Airlines Corporation and Russian national flag carrier Aeroflot will share the same flights between the two countries next year.

The codeshare deal is the key component of an agreement signed between the two sides in Moscow on Friday.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnam Airlines Director General Dương Trí Thành described the agreement as an important event as it marks the 25th anniversary the Vietnam Airlines route to Russia.

According to the deal, Vietnam Airlines and Aeroflot are expected to extend their coverage in various areas, bringing more benefits to customers of the two countries.

Vietnam Airlines currently operates a direct flight from Hà Nội to Moscow three times a week on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with 4-star international standard Skytrax service.

Meanwhile, Aeroflot operates nine flights per week between Việt Nam and Moscow, with one flight per day to Hà Nội and two weekly flights to HCM City.

Vietnam Airlines and Aeroflot are members of SkyTeam, a global alliance of 20 members, with over 16,600 daily flights to 1,074 destinations in 177 countries. — VNS
