HCM CITY — Phú Nhuận Jewelry Joint Stock Company’s Charity Fund and the Office of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs of HCM City’s Phú Nhuận District have granted scholarships to 100 poor students in the district.
Each consists of VNĐ900,000 to VNĐ1.2 million, depending on the student’s grade, in cash and 20 notebooks.
Huỳnh Văn Tẩn, PNJ’s communications director, said this is the 18th year his company has given these scholarships, and nearly 2,000 students have received nearly VNĐ2 billion (US$85,954) so far.
Established in 2005, the PNJ Charity Fund has contributed nearly VNĐ40 billion to social programmes such as the Vừ A Dính Scholarship, scholarships for disadvantaged students in Côn Đảo District in Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu Province, and in Bến Tre Province and building houses for poor people around the country. — VNS
