HCM CITY — Low-cost carrier Jetstar Pacific has been recognised as the first airline applying the on-line submission of flight plans at 16 airports in Việt Nam by the Civil Aviation Administration of Việt Nam (CAAV).

The airline said in a statement the CAAV accepted their new online plans after a month’s trial.

It means that pilots could use Ipads from plane cabin to receive data from the airline’s flight management centre and send flight plan to the airport, saving valuable time.

It said the application of information technology for the online procedure was made in accordance to strict regulation of International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and the Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunication Network (AFTN).

Earlier, CAAV approved the utilisation of the area navigation (RNAV) approach procedures and required navigation performance (RNP) that was proposed by the airline.

Jetstar Pacific said new procedure will help reduce the chances of controlled flight into terrain, while increases safety as well as approaching easier to fly.

Last year, the cheap-price ticket airline, in co-operation with community online service company (VietUnion), offered a new cash payment system, Payoo, at 3,000 sites nationwide.

It also launched a check-in service using wireless internet for all its flights, starting this month to ease congestion at airport check-in counters.
