Textile industry expo kicks off in Hà Nội

HÀ NỘI — Around 150 companies are showcasing their products at the 2017 Hà Nội Textile and Garment Industry Expo (Hà Nội TEX 2017).

The expo, which opened on November 1, is being held at the International Centre for Exhibition on Trần Hưng Đạo street, Hà Nội.

The annual event draws business representatives from countries, including China, Germany, India and Indonesia, as well as Italy, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia and Pakistan, in addition to Singapore, Turkey, the UK, the United States and Việt Nam. 

The three-day event is showcasing textile-garment machinery and equipment, high-quality silk and fabrics, dyeing equipment and chemicals, and materials and accessories across an area of 6,000sq.m.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Cao Quốc Hưng, said the expo provided an opportunity for Vietnamese textile-garment producers to gain access to the latest technologies in the world, thus enhancing the value of Vietnamese products.

In order to implement its sustainable strategy by 2020, the Vietnamese garment and textile sector has focused more on high-quality and environmentally friendly technologies, said General Director of the Việt Nam National Textile Garment Group (Vinatex), Lê Tiến Trường, at the ceremony.

The event is co-organised by the CP Hongkong Exhibition Organisation Co., Ltd, VCCI Exhibition Service Co., Ltd (VCCI Expo) and the Việt Nam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex), under the patronage of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Việt Nam Textile and Apparel Association.

Meanwhile, about 500 firms will join the 17th Việt Nam International Textile and Apparel Accessories Exhibition (VTG 2017) in HCM City from November 22 to 25, featuring new solutions, technologies and equipment for the apparel sector. — VNS
