HÀ NỘI — Bình Sơn Refining and Petrochemical Co Ltd (BSR), which manages and operates Dung Quất oil refinery, has crossed the 10 million safe working hours milestone.
The company saw no occupational accidents in the period from June 2, 2014, to February 28, 2017.
To avert untoward incidents at the refinery, BSR prioritised safety measures to prevent fires, explosions and environmental disasters. It carries out periodic and frequent inspections as well as organises safety training for its staff as well as its contractors’ personnel who work on site.
The company aims to achieve 14.5 million safe working hours by the end of this year.
Located in Quảng Ngãi Province, Dung Quất refinery is the country’s first oil refinery. With a current design capacity of 6.5 million tonnes of crude oil annually, or 140,000 barrels per day, the refinery meets 30 per cent of the country’s demand for petrol. The plant’s capacity will be expanded to 8.5 million tonnes, or 192,000 barrels per day, by 2022.
BSR is pushing up preparation for Dung Quất refinery’s third maintenance overhaul, which will take place from June 5 to July 23 this year. — VNS
