JAKARTA — Bandung of Indonesia has once again highlighted its status as a UNESCO “Creative City” by hosting the Indonesia Batik & Craft Festival 2025 - a vibrant event celebrating the country’s diverse traditional arts and crafts.

Held in early August at the heart of Bandung, this year's festival has brought together nearly 100 participants, including artisans and small businesses from across the archipelago country. Exhibitors come not only from Java but also from eastern regions such as East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and Palembang.

Visitors to the festival can explore a wide range of handmade products - from Batik fabrics and embroidered textiles to traditional accessories, cosmetics, and jewelry crafted from local materials and Kalimantan forest stones. The event also features woven cloth from East Sumba, intricate embroidery from Tasikmalaya, and Batik from Cirebon, Solo, Klaten, and Sampang.

According to the organisers, the festival is more than just a cultural gathering, it is a platform for education and creative economic development. By promoting locally made goods, the event encourages people to support domestic products and empowers small and micro businesses to reach broader markets.

In addition to the exhibition, the festival includes Batik fashion shows, craft workshops, seminars, and culinary events, making it a colorful celebration of Indonesia’s cultural richness and creative industries. — VNA/VNS
