Ingredients: for a 12x8 rectangular baking pan
Vanilla batter
- 50g butter (room temperature)
- 50g sugar
- 1 large egg (room temperature)
- 10g milk (room temperature)
- 2g vanilla extract
- a pinch of salt
- 65g all-purpose flour
- 2g baking powder
Chocolate butter
- 50g butter (room temperature)
- 50g sugar
- 1 large egg (room temperature)
- 10g milk (room temperature)
- a pinch of salt
- 55g all-purpose flour
- 10g cocoa powder
- 2g baking powder
Preparations:
Vanilla butter
- Whisk the butter and sugar until white and fluffy.
- Gradually add in the egg and mix until fully combined, then add the milk and vanilla extract.
- Sift in the flour, salt, and baking powder.
- Mix gently and quickly, stop until there are no flour clumps.
Chocolate butter
- Do the same as vanilla butter.
- Line the baking pan with parchment paper or coat it with some butter to avoid sticking.
- Pour the chocolate butter into the pan, followed by the vanilla butter.
- Use a knife to gently swirl the two butter mixtures together, creating a marble effect.
- Bake at 180 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes.
Serving:
- After cooling, let the cake sit at room temperature for a moist texture for at least two hours before serving.
- The cake can be served with some whipped cream and fresh berries.
