Young footballers called in to train for ASEAN championships

Players for Việt Nam's U15 and U18 national football teams have been summoned to prepare for the coming regional championships.

HÀ NỘI Players for Việt Nam's U15 and U18 national football teams have been summoned to prepare for the coming regional championships.

Coach Đinh Thế Nam called up 31 players for his U15 squad, who will take part in the AFF U15 Boys Championship in Thailand from July 22 to August 9.

They will have 12 days of intensive training and friendly matches in Japan to prepare from July 8 to 20.

Việt Nam are in Group A with Indonesia, Myanmar, East Timor, Singapore and the Philippines. Group B includes Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia, Australia and the hosts.

The tournament is a qualifying round for the AFC U16 Championship in 2020.

At the same time, the U18s under coach Hoàng Anh Tuấn are training in Hưng Yên Province. They will compete in the AFF U18 Boys Championship in HCM City and Bình Dương Province from August 5 to 18.

They will leave for Japan on July 15 for a 12-day training course.

Việt Nam will play Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore and Australia in Group B. Group A includes Myanmar, Indonesia, Laos, East Timor, the Philippines and Brunei. VNS
