HÀ NỘI — The National Youth Shooting Tournament, Jin Jong-oh Cup, is scheduled to take place on July 1-2 at the National Sports Training Centre in Hà Nội.
The event will attract the participation of 60 shooters from 11 teams across the country, competing in the men’s and women’s air rifle and pistol.
According to Nguyễn Thị Nhung, general secretary of the Việt Nam Shooting Federation (VSF) and head coach of the national shooting team, the event named after South Korean four-time Olympic shooting champion, aims to inspire Jin’s shooting passion in Vietnamese players.
Jin came to Việt Nam twice to meet with Vietnamese shooters.
Jin, 39, is the best shooter in South Korean history. He won Olympic gold medals in 2008, 2012 and 2016. In the Olympic Games 2012, he won two golds in the men’s 50m pistol and 10m air pistol.
Besides, Jin also brought home two silver medals from the Olympic Games, three gold medals in world championships and many gold medals in other international events. — VNS
