HÀ NỘI — The opening ceremony for the VTF Masters 500 – Hải Đăng Cup 2019 was held on Monday at Hải Đăng Tennis Complex in Tây Ninh Province.

The tournament has attracted top players including Lý Hoàng Nam and Nguyễn Văn Phương from Becamex Bình Dương, Trịnh Linh Giang and Vietnamese American Daniel Nguyễn from Hải Đăng Tây Ninh, and Lê Quốc Khánh from Hồ Chí Minh City.

The total prize money for the tournament is $21,548 (VNĐ500 million).

In the first match, Phạm Minh Tuấn from Đà Nẵng beat Lê Trung Khang from Becamex Bình Dương 6-1, 6-3.

Youngster Tất Thái Nguyên from Hồ Chí Minh City also defeated Trương Thành Minh from Becamex Bình Dương 6-2, 6-2.

Nguyên will next play Nguyễn Lê Minh Hậu from Đà Nẵng, who beat Từ Ngọc Nhựt from Bình Dương 6-1, 3-6,7-5.

Defending champion Phương beat Võ Hoàng Hùng from HCM City 6-2, 6-2. He will play Triệu Hoàng Hiếu from ACE Sports Club in the second round.

Top seed Nam will play Lâm Hoàng Nam from Kiên Giang, while second seed Giang will meet Trần Minh Đăng from ACE Sports Club today. — VNS
