HÀ NỘI — Mai Nguyễn Hưng triumphed on the seventh stage of the Nam Kỳ Khởi Nghĩa cycling tour in the Central Highland province of Đắk Tô on Sunday.

Hưng of Vietnam USA Society English Centres (VUS HCM City) won the 151km race from Attapeu in Laos to Đắk Tô in a time of 4:36.36.

Ali Khademi from Lộc Trời An Giang Corperation and Loic Derisac from Bike Life Đồng Nai finished second and third.

Having tackled hilly terrain, Hưng held his nerve and made it to the finish line with support from his teammates.

He also took the yellow jersey from Ngô Văn Phương of Hạt Gạo Ngọc Trời An Giang.

Lê Nguyệt Minh from HCM City (99 points) holds both the green and polka dot jerseys after seven stages, while Kim Chantou from Cambodia has the white jersey.

In the team rankings, VUS HCM City lead with a total time of 68:50.41, followed by Lộc Trời Corperation and Domesco Đồng Tháp Pharmacy.

After a day off, racers will begin the eighth stage from Pleiku to Buôn Ma Thuột City today. — VNS
