HÀ NỘI — The Asian Youth Xiangqi (Chinese chess) Championship Việt Nam Open will take place in Hạ Long, Quảng Ninh Province from December 15-20.

Nearly 100 players from six countries have registered to take part in the event. They will compete in categories for boys and girls in seven age groups ranging from seven to 20.

Among the title favourites are Đinh Trần Thanh Lam, Đào Thị Thủy Tiên and Nguyễn Minh Hảo of the hosts and Huang Xiao Hang of China, Lee Han Wei of Singapore, Sou Chon Hou from Macau and Qiu Yu Kai of Chinese Taipei.

It is the first international tournament organised by the Việt Nam Xiangqi Federation after it separated from the Việt Nam Chess Federation six months ago. — VNS
