Việt Nam chess teams receive $25,000

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam chess teams have received US$25,000 from Nam Á Bank for their achievements at the 43rd Batumi Chess Olympiad in Georgia.

The male team ranked seventh out of 185 teams, while the female team ranked 15th out of 151 teams.

To encourage the teams, the Việt Nam Chess Federation and HDBank held a ceremony to honour Vietnamese chess players in HCM City over the weekend.

Earlier, HDBank sponsored all competition expenditure for the teams, at around $30,000.

The Batumi Chess Olympiad attracted 189 nations and territories. It was the 13th time Việt Nam have participated in the event. — VNS
