HÀ NỘI — Cantho Catfish beat Hanoi Buffaloes in the 30th Game of Việt Nam Basketball Association (VBA)’s League 2018, held at Cần Thơ Gymnasium on Saturday.
In the first quarter, Hanoi Buffaloes attacked strongly and soon led 4-0. However, Cantho quickly regained control and managed to score 27 points, ending the quarter 27-19.
The second quarter started with intense counterattacks by the capital city team, but losing the ball many times, they lost to the Catfish 41-46.
Mike Bell’s efforts to secure the defending line of the Buffaloes helped the team to shorten the gap to 58-64 in the third quarter. But by losing the ball once again pushed them back and they lost to the host team with a final score of 74-82.
In the match, Bell contributed 26 points, 18 rebounds, Lê Ngọc Tú 19 points, Đinh Tiến Công poured in 12 points, and Vincent Nguyễn gave 10 points to the Buffaloes.
Tâm Đinh gave 15 points, 10 rebounds, Nguyễn Phú Hoàng gave 26 points and De Angelo Hamilton poured 19 points, 8 rebounds to Cantho Catfish.
In the next match, Cantho Catfish will face defending champions Thang Long Warriors on August 2 at the Cần Thơ Gymnasium, while visiting team Hanoi Buffaloes will meet Danang Dragons at the 5th Military Zone Gymnasium on July 31. — VNS
