Phương will next face Coleman Wong of Hong Kong.
Việt Nam’s Timothy Toàn Phụng lost to Christian Didier Chin of Malaysia 6-1, 6-0, Tất Thái Nguyên was defeated by Stefan Storch of Australia 6-2, 6-2, Huỳnh Minh Thịnh lost to Kasidit Samrej of Thailand 6-2, 6-3, and Từ Lê Khánh Duy was also beaten by Natthayut of Thailand 7-6, 6-2.
Phương and his teammate Minh Thịnh have also reached to the semi-finals of the men’s doubles. They came from behind to beat a pair from Australia and Japan 2-6, 6-0, 7-6.
