HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam are still in Group D of the Asian Games (ASIAD) U23 men’s tournament, according to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s re-draw held in Malaysia yesterday.
The team will face Japan, Pakistan and Nepal.
The Palestinian and United Arab Emirates teams have been added to an expanded football competition at next month’s ASIAD after missing out on the original draw.
According to the re-draw, the UAE team was added to Group E with defending champion South Korea, Kyrgyz, Malaysia and Bahrain.
The Palestinians were added to Group A along with Indonesia, Hong Kong, Laos and Chinese Taipei.
The men’s football kicks off on August 14 and finished on September 1 in Indonesia. It will feature 26 teams in two groups of five and four groups of four. The top two teams in each group and the four best third-place teams will advance to the second round. — VNS
