HÀ NỘI — All Vietnamese competitors have been knocked out of the ongoing International Federation of Volleyball Tuần Châu Hạ Long Open in the northern coastal province of Quảng Ninh.

Among four local duos taking part in the World Tour event, only Nguyễn Thị Thanh Trâm and Nguyễn Thị Mãi advanced to the last eight round yesterday.

However, they were defeated 19-21, 21-18, 6-15 by Yukako Suzuki and Koha Sakaguchi of Japan.

The Japanese pair will next face No 1 seeds Sayaka Mizoe and Suzuka Hashimoto, also from Japan, who won 21-17, 25-23 over Maria Elisabeth Tyndeskov and Line Trans Hansen of Sweden in another quarter-final.

The second semi-final will see No 2 seeds Yui Nagata and Minori Kumada of Japan face Sofia Starikov and Noy Chorin of Israel. — VNS
