HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam bagged five gold medals at the Asian Rowing Cup 2017, which closed on Sunday in Palembang, Indonesia.

Bùi Văn Hoàn won in the men’s 2,000m singles sculls lightweight. He finished first with a time of 6min 50.87sec.

He was followed by Hong Kong’s Wong Wai Chun (6:54.08) and host Prasetyo Luckiyus (7:02.13).

Tạ Thanh Huyền and Nguyễn Thị Giang triumphed in the women’s 2,000m double sculls lightweight category

The duo took the top position with a time of 6:55.44.

Filipinos Snyder Khrizzia Ariane Joy and Delgaco Joanie were second (7:02.46) and Thailand 2’s Pitakpaothai Tippaporn and Pitakpaothai Thilada stood third (7:06.96).

Later, Đinh Thị Hảo and Nguyễn Lâm Kiều Diễm bagged their gold in the women’s 2,000m double sculls lightweight. Meanwhile, Phạm Thị Huệ won the women’s 2,000m single sculls, while Trần Thị An and Lê Thị Hiền topped the women’s 2,000m coxless pairs.

The team also pocketed one silver and two bronze medals from the tournament’s nine categories. — VNS
