 Fourteen-year-old Đoàn Xuân Khuê Minh became Việt Nam’s youngest athlete to win the National Women’s Amateur Golf Championship on Sunday.

HÀ NỘI — Fourteen-year-old Đoàn Xuân Khuê Minh became Việt Nam’s youngest athlete to win the National Women’s Amateur Golf Championship on Sunday.

Minh triumphed, with an over-24 240 score at the three-day tournament where she faced senior and experienced rivals.

Joung Sun Mi stood second, with an over-26 242 result, followed by Ngô Lê Hoàng Nam Phương (over-31). The qualification’s leader, Nguyễn Thị Vân Anh, former national champion, placed fourth (over-36).

Minh earlier overcame senior Trần Chiêu Dương in the playoffs to secure her berth in the national team taking part in the Malaysian Southeast Asian Games in August. She broke the record for being the youngest Vietnamese athlete in the regional competition. — VNS
