HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam placed third at the Asian U23 Fencing Championships, which closed on Tuesday in Hà Nội.

The host athletes pocketed three silvers and two bronzes.

Vũ Văn Hùng took the only individual silver in the men’s sabre. Two other silvers went to the men’s sabre and epee teams. Two bronzes were won by the women’s epee and sabre teams.

South Korea took the top position winning 12 out of 14 titles at the competition. They also grabbed four silver and five bronze medals.

Hong Kong finished second with two golds, three silvers and eight bronzes.

The championships attracted nearly 250 competitors from 21 delegations. Việt Nam, as the host, had the biggest volume of 45 fencers.

According to Phùng Lê Quang, head of the Fencing Department, Việt Nam’s results reflected what they were at present. — VNS
