HÀ NỘI — Thang Long Warriors crushed defending champions, Danang Dragons, 82-72, to lead the rankings at the Việt Nam Basketball Association (VBA) League on October 26.

The match, held at the Military Zone 5 Gymnasium in Đà Nẵng, saw the wonderful performance of Justin Young, Tô Quang Trung and Jaywuan Hill of the Warriors. Young scored 10 points and 14 rebounds, while Hill had 27 points and 15 rebounds. Trung also shone with 21 points and four rebounds.

The Warriors proved their might with three wins in a row against the Dragons. The Warriors will next face an archrival, Saigon Heat, on October 29 at the CIS Arena in HCM City. Saigon Heat previously defeated Cantho Catfish 85-80.

Meanwhile, the Dragons will also face the Heat on October 31 at the Military Zone 5 Gymnasium.

In the match between the Heat and Catfish, Catfish took the lead in the first two quarters; however, David Arnold helped the Heat bounce back in the last two periods and during overtime to finally win.

Arnold won the MVP award of the game with 43 points, six rebounds and four assists. Forty-three points is a record number of points any player has gained in the league so far.

The Heat are second in the rankings and a candidate for the title this season.

The Catfish will play HCM City Wings at Cần Thơ Gymnasium on October 31. — VNS
