HÀ NỘI — Spiker Trần Thị Thanh Thúy of Việt Nam’s VTV Bình Điền Long An will play for Attack Line Club of Chinese Taipei next month.
Thúy, 20, is currently the club’s and the nation’s top volleyball player, and has received offers from various clubs in Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.
Thúy, 1.93m, previously played for and won a title with Thai Bangkok Glass in the 2015-16 season, before returning to Bình Điền Long An.
Thailand’s first runner-up Bangkok Glass also wanted to sign Thúy, but they were too late as Attack Line successfully signed her.
“The managers of Attack Line came to talk with us and we reached our deal. We will go and visit her new club in the next few days before signing the contract,” said Thái Bửu Lâm, Director of the Bình Điền Long An Sports Company.
Thúy will receive a monthly salary of around US$4,000.
Her move to Chinese Taipei next month will mean that Bình Điền Long An will be without Thúy for the Việt Nam Super Cup for the top four teams in mid-October.
But according to their agreement, she will return in late November to take part in the second round of the national championship, during Chinese Taipei’s tournament break.
Together with Thúy, Attack Line also signed the top attacker in the Philippines, Alyssa Valdez. — VNS
